A Cure for Writers Block

I think Save Deth may turn into a Yo-Yo/Lego Lifestyle brand. As you know, I draw a lot of creative inspiration from Legos. Ever since I was little I loved building with Legos. At the time I didn’t know it, but it really nurtured my creativity and problem solving skills.

I thought I’d share a little inspiration with you. First off is a new Lego book called “50 Years of the Lego Brick”. Both content and concept are amazing. Throughout the book there are perforated folder pages that hold different things from reproduced catalogs and advertisements to stickers. Plus it comes with actual LEgo bricks! The creativity from this has really generated some great ideas for future Save Deth publications. Buy it on sale Here.

The next blew me away. As Save Deth grows we have been looking for a dedicated work/office space, because frankly its started to take over Dave and Mariah’s apartment. It would be great if our boardroom table could look like this!

Spring/Summer Sneak Peek #2

For our next preview of the Spring/Summer we bring you the new incarnation of Metal Tour by Paul Escolar

This is just the tip of the iceberg… Stay tuned in the following weeks, some really big items are going to be announced…

2x $15 Finds

So I was out in Iowa City (2 hours east of Des Moines) at the University of Iowa doing a video gig, and I stopped at a couple antique stores afterward. They were next to my favorite IA City eating joint (SUPER good falafel). Anyway, I was in one of the stores, and I stumbled across an SX-70, $55. Not a bad price. Probably good for such a good condition camera. But I decided to pass. The next store I did buy something though, a nice little book of Polaroid photos. $15.

NOW, the GOOD find from today! Just down on the south side of DSM, hitting up a couple ol favorite thrift stores. Found this SX-70 and Land Camera for $15! Score.

The land camera came with a few OLD photos, flash, and the sx70 with a super nice case as well as a couple flash bars.

Mongu Contest Favorites… so far

We’ve got some GREAT entries so far in the “Show us your Mongu” thread on YoYoNation.com. Here are some highlights…

Our favorite so far (both picture and quote)…

“That mongu was almost thrown out from EYYC bar party at first night.
I’ve never seen bartender so mad at a mongu. But yea, it’s tested. Mongu hoodie doesn’t shrink if you wash it. Not even if you wash it with beer. I’m sure of it.”

How a Vinyl Record is Made

I’m sure a lot of you watched Mr. Rogers as a kid. My favorite part was when Mr. McFeely would come over and show how things were made on PicturePicture.

Well, Nick Cavalier put on his sweeter and made this awesome documentary on Gotta Groove Records, and more importantly, how they make vinyl records.

Gotta Groove Records – “Groove With Us” from Nick Cavalier on Vimeo.

If you’ve ever been to the Save Deth HQ or on a roadtrip with us, you know we are always on the look out for a good record. Whether its Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” or Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, it’s always a highlight to find a dope record to add to the collection.
